“Dark Jedi, also known as “Fallen” Jedi were Force-sensitives, frequently former Jedi, who chose to deny the light side of the Force and/or follow the dark side. Although “Dark Jedi” originally referred to a Jedi who had fallen to the dark side, it could also refer to uninitiated Force-sensitives who received no Jedi training but began their careers under another Dark Jedi.” -from ‘Dark Jedi‘ page of Wookieepedia.

Where did Fallenjedi.com come from? I registered the domain back in 1999 (which seems like a long time ago now). The name mostly came from the above quote more or less, I always enjoyed the idea of a Jedi falling to the Dark Side, and on the opposite hand I always thoroughly enjoyed a Jedi fighting to retain his connection to the Light Side of the Force.

I’ve used this domain for a number of things over the years:

  • First and foremost it was used as a Star Wars Simming Site (heavily based on the AOL sims that I was a part of, and then offset with sound bytes and other misc Star Wars media), it was simply called ‘Fallenjedi.com’.

  • Then it progressed to a more streamlined and heavily Empire sided site. Away went much of the rebellion, and those things. Most of the media stayed put. The site’s named changed to ‘Imperialism Unbound’.

  • During that time I also hosted my own sub-domain for a turtle site (yes, pet turtles – we have five), I had a list of my turtles, some misc stuff, and most notably the ‘Turtle Cam’ which was a every 30 second type of deal uploading live pictures from their tank. That sub-domain was called ‘Turtle Land’.

  • As well, there was a few years I hosted a sub-domain dedicated to my little brother and sister when they were born, with a ton of pictures and fun info, not sure it had a real name, just their names Will and Carina.

  • Then I revamped the whole Star Wars theme, added some forums, and tried to create a general community, it came and went over time. Shortly thereafter, with the help of a few friends we created a new site The Star Wars Sim Forum (which still lives on at the Star Wars Sim Forum), which was a real big throw back to the America Online days of simming. Fallenjedi.com basically became a redirect and domain forward for that site.

  • As time flowed, things changed and this domain settled into the dust and sat on a shelf for some a good chuck of time. I’ve recently decided to bring it back to the light (or dark?), after being fascinated with my fiancée (Amy!) blogging (see here, Luci’s Tasty Adventures!). I first thought of a pure Star Wars: The Old Republic (a new mmo coming soon from BioWare), but I’ve since sidestepped that, and while I do plan to cover that game, and hopefully our journey through that game, I’ve also decided to add in a number of other things I enjoy, from tv shows to other games, misc events, and all sorts of goodies.

So, Fallenjedi.com has returned, and how it goes, we shall see…
