Well, as all good things do, Beta Weekend has come to a close. What did you think? Did you try out anything new or different? Did you change your mind about your class you wanted to start out with? I have so many thoughts and pondering, I’ll get them up during the week, but for now, smile and know that the game release day is so close..
Guess Who?! It’s Karen Gillan‘s birthday today! Most of you may better her know as the Doctor’s current companion (and I believe longest running one since Rose!).
Strangely enough her birthday also falls on the newly famous ‘Cyber Monday’, or as I’ve recently seen it called ‘Cyberman Monday’!
As many most all (most likely at least) have had a chance to tinker around in Star Wars: The Old Republic this fantastically long weekend, I wanted to be sure to share a few things I’ve found on crafting. I love to craft, so of course I’ve been looking all over for goodies galore. Mind you this is all pre-launch and of course bound to change at some point, but I’m guessing it’ll only change so much that you can use these tools as a launching spot.
First we have a Crafting Guide, which details the skills, what they do, and to some degree which is best for what.
Second, we have a visual Crew Skills Guide, which is not exactly complete (as seen from a form post over at SithWarrior.com), the following is not on here:
Synthweaving also makes heavy armor, which requires Underworld Trading
Underworld “makes” modulators
Treasure Hunting gives access to very high-level companion gifts through trade-in tokens
Artifice can also use Diplomacy, UWT and Investigation materials to make boots/bracers for each force-centric armor type.
What’re you looking to crafting wise?!
Build Date 2011.12.01
Patch 0.742.27
Welcome

If you encounter any issues that prevent you from playing the game, please e-mail testing@swtor.com and we will do our best to address your concern quickly and efficiently. May the Force be with you!
Not sure which class to play? Need any last minute tips or a cheat guide to which class does what? Here’s a great visual guide from SWTOR Leveling Guide (short and sweet) for the classes, and their respective roles (of course everything is up to discussion and tweaking), a great place to start! Remember this data is bound to be slightly outdated (the class ranking), but for the most part its a great rough idea!
What’d you pick?
We all love databases so we can find any and all pieces of information for … well anything, and SWTOR isn’t even out yet, but we have a plethora of sites popping up (as expected, more or less). Here are some of the better ones I’ve found so far, and thees all include some sort of ‘Skill Tree Planner‘ so you can start thinking ahead for your characters now!

In very early 2007 I was busy beta testing Lord of the Rings Online, and as most games that you’re excited about, time slips away when you’re in it. My then girlfriend (now wife), Luci, was not a gamer, at all. She said (if you asked her back then), she then took on the “if you can’t beat them, join them” type of attitude, and before you knew it she had rolled a Human Captain, and off into the world of LotRo she went.
She progressed over the years through every class (sometimes twice), during her travels she left the casual kinships (guilds) that I generally enjoyed and took off into the world of hardcore gaming, and the battlefields of PvP (or PvMP in lotro). Her main character for a long while now, has a been a super cute wee Hobbit Minstrel, named Lucibell. Though she spends many hours raiding, crafting, and just having fun, she puts an immense effort into her wartime and can be found in the fields of the Ettenmoors. Just the other rank, she reached a new milestone (one that is not easily accomplished without a large amount of time and effort), and she reached Rank 10 (Lieutenant)! You can see her congrats thread here via the lotro forums, if you’re a member feel free to comment, if not, just relax and ponder the amount of renown and time put into the game.
Fantastic job sweetheart!
Well, today is a special today! ‘Doctor Who’ turns 48! Talk about an amazing feat! Awesome
On 23 November, 1963, the first episode of Doctor Who was broadcast. Entitled An Unearthly Child it starred William Hartnell as the Doctor and introduced the world to this mysterious traveler and his incredible time machine known as the TARDIS.
Do you have a Mac? Are you worried that you can’t play SWTOR? Never fear! The good ol site TORWARS.COM has posted up a fantastic guide on how to use Boot Camp and get things rolling, so you to can join in on the Sith or Republic side of things!
What You’ll Need
- An Intel-based Mac computer (just about any model from 2007 on)
- Install DVD for Mac OS X 10.6 or later (the full disc version, not an upgrade version)
- Windows 7 Home Premium or XP (again, the full version, not an upgrade)
- Optional, but highly recommended, is a Time Machine backup drive
- Finally, you’ll need a bit of time and quiet. No cats running across the keyboard while installing a new operating system.
