Here’s a fun Doctor Who article I found on i09.com about the large number of women dressing up as cos-playing as the Doctor! A good read and some great pictures.
Why do so many women want to dress up as the Doctor, rather than his many companions? And why do they create such beautifully femme versions of the Time Lord’s eccentric costumes? And most of all, why doesn’t the Doctor look like this on television? At Gallifrey, we went to a panel on “Crossplay” to find out more about this amazing phenomenon, and then we followed up by interviewing
Recently there was a Doctor Who concert in Australia (what?), and Steven Moffat himself teased this: “Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary is coming. In Cardiff, we’re gearing up for the biggest, the best and the most ambitious season we’ve ever made. There will be shocks, surprises and heartbreak—the Doctor is about to say goodbye to his very best friends, Amy and Rory.
“And then he’s about to say hello to someone very different—the Doctor is going to meet someone very new in the very last place he could ever have expected …”
That doesn’t seem too promising for the Ponds, who have become the longest running companions since the show’s reboot!?!
Well, here’s an official teaser trailer for the second season of the Game of Thrones tv series on HBO (based on the books of course), this one should in theory cover the second book, ‘A Clash of Kings’. Enjoy!
Sure, I mean who doesn’t want a TARDIS? Travel time and space and mess around? sillysparrowness on Youtube has posted her building a TARDIS – you need to check this out, its a pretty good time
Rumors have been swirling for a few days now, what would this tweet from Doctor Who main-man Steven Moffat mean? Could Sophia Myles who played Madame de Pompadour in the ”The Girl in the Fireplace” episode be returning? Could she be the next companion?
I have no idea – but be sure to follow them both on twitter, and stay tuned for more news – soooon (I hope)!
Looks like there’s some action in some of the management of Doctor Who, as Caroline Skinner (who produced The Fades) is the new executive producer for Doctor Who, taking the reigns from Beth Willis and Piers Wenger.
Huzzah! Fantastic news from HBO (finally), Season 2 of Game of Thrones will return Sunday, April 1st at 9pm EST. Ten episodes (like Season 1) are all lined up, waiting for Winter. In theory, this season should follow along with the second book in the series, entitled A Clash of Kings. I can’t wait to see how they portray the books! Lots to cover!!
Finally, while I’m overjoyed that Christmas is here, and hopefully everyone is enjoying themselves – anytime now the Doctor Who Christmas Special, The Widow And The Wardbrobe should be starting anytime for us over here in the US! Be sure to check your local listing (and set that DVR, if you haven’t)!
I love Gingerbread and the Doctor loves Gingers, right? ;0 So what better way to celebrate the Doctor at Christmas time (other than enjoying the Doctor Who Christmas Special) than making a Doctor Who Gingerbread? Here’s a great ‘how-to’ video, enjoy!
