There are few other things to say on this, the official launch date of Star Wars: The Old Republic from Bioware! It’s been a LONG, LONG time coming – and while most of us (all?) have already been playing via our illustrious pre-order/head-start access, today’s the official date.
Be sure to enter your product code once you get it – and go, swoop down into the battefifeld of one of the great saga’s ever created!
I’ve never played WoW, so I’ve missed out on the hacking destruction that comes along with account issues – but from what I can gather, there’s always hacking and misc game issues with passwords, etc. So, looks like Bioware/EA is following the standard of having some extra security issues (other than your password, and those somewhat annoying account security questions).
Not only is there the physical key that you can buy (or pre-order, but they are supposed to start shipping 12/15) for a whole $4.99each, or you can wait and get the free iOS iPhone App (is also supposed to be released tomorrow the 15th), both can be seen down via the following link.
Here we go! Today is the first day of the Star Wars: The Old Republic headstart! While who knows who is getting in today (or when for that matter), we should all be thankful for the fact that the day has arrived (more or less).
Good luck on getting in, getting your names, and having a blast!
Star Wars: The Old Republic‘s Guild Alignment invites went out today! Where did you end up?! The Fracture Force (Republic) and Fractured Force (Sith Empire) have both been assigned to Canderous Ordo! If you haven’t already, come by and check us out over at our website/forums. Otherwise, I look forward to finding you in game!!
You’ve probably played in Beta, at least once, you’ve enjoyed the voice acting (or loved it), and probably at some point wondered … who the heck’s voice is this? Well, check out imdb.com and voice, a list of all voice actors is right before you!
As usual, there’s always some sort of hitch in the best planned … plans. Alas, we have the no-grace period drama over Star Wars: the Old Republic. First they said, yes there will be, and now no … there won’t. So basically unless you have a digital copy or are in Europe, well you have to wait after the 19th to play until you get your actual product box. I could go on in detail … but why do so when Jae Onasi has done such a great job over at TORWARS.COM, in the article: The Great Grace Period Controversy!
A great excerpt:
Like many others, I have a lot of strong feelings about this. I’m distressed that I can’t be in game on launch day with my family. This is one of the most important days in this game, and I can’t be a part of it now. I feel betrayed in the name of profit–I was told in August that there would be a grace period, only to discover now, when I can’t do much about it, that EA rescinded it.
There’s also a great video (another one of those Inglorious Bastard edits), here.
Well, it’s about time. …. right?! Bioware has released the Sith Inquisitor Character Progression video, just nearly at the deadline to the game itself.
Emmanuel Lusinch, an Associate Lead Designer over at Bioware took some time to write up a giant post on the forums about the changes in the Modification System in Star Wars: The Old Republic, some of its history and how it works today. Below is a snippet and the link. Good reading, and at the end of the day – my head hurts some from reading this, but hoping it’ll make much more sense once the game is live!
To start with, we’ve introduced a new color and item type: the Custom items. Those are shown with an orange border and are fully moddable. This change is purely cosmetic. What we have done is take all fully moddable Prototype items (blue) and simply changed their icon color. This helps us create a better and more unique identity for fully moddable gear.Since other games have used orange to signify truly rare and epic gear, let me clarify that orange in Star Wars: The Old Republic has nothing to do with ‘epic’ gear. (And for those curious, our version of ‘epic’ is a very deep purple, bordering on a rich blue). The orange we use is actually the old bronze color we developed a long time ago when our color coding was based on metals (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc).Custom gear is actually pretty common: it can be obtained through class quests around level 8, as social gear, as space quest rewards and as light side / dark side gear. It is also the typical gear found in Flashpoints and as rewards for Heroic missions. Several pieces can be acquired using planetary commendations.
