SWTOR: Dev Blog – User Interface

User interfaces, really what is almost more important to the game itself? We stare at the same visual all day long – sure we can tweak it, mod it, or even hide some of it – but at the end of the interface is to some degree what makes or breaks a game.

I love how they show some progression, I can see some major changes in their ideas as they played with it. Worth the read…

 

“We used the analogy of the cockpit of a steam locomotive compared to a modern sports car. The locomotive had indicators and dials jumbled in all corners of the cockpit and the sports car had a sleek driver dash containing all the necessary indicators in an organized layout. This illustration shows the differences we were thinking about.”
